Welcome to Reading-Gap 

A research project on reading in secondary schools

This project looks at reading in secondary schools, with a particular focus on what happens beyond early identification and intervention.

It examines how reading difficulties are identified and assessed over time, how schools know whether reading is affecting learning, and where uncertainty remains as pupils move through later secondary.

​

This is early-stage, formative research. At this stage, we are commissioning a small number of practitioner conversations to shape the questions and focus of the work.
